Ivan Arkhipov (1934-2016) is the artist who was born in a small village in Gorky region (which was the Soviet name for Yekaterinburg). In 1950s he served in the Northern Fleet, and then after he had completed the Ivanovo Art College he moved to Arkhangelsk. He was working in the art workshops of the Artist Fund in Arkhangelsk during the Soviet times and played a role in forming the public space of the town. He decorated several buildings with cultural and social functions, such as Palace of Sport, Palace of Pioneers and others.
